The Power of First-Person Storytelling at CBC
If you want to see more representation of your community, authentic storytelling, and genuine connections with a wider audience, consider the humble First Person column.

A memorable First Person column could be a compelling personal essay. It usually has powerful writing, it takes a concept from statistic to personal, or it often is something you can learn from or has your experiences reflected.

First Person columns are well read with high engagement time for CBC News, especially compared to other news and current affairs stories. CBC Edmonton First Person editor Thandiwe Konguavi will walk you through the elements of a First Person column, how to pitch CBC, and the fact-checking/due diligence process.
